Snow Driving: Stay safe and be defensive on driving.

Highway 2

Winter driving took me two hours at 10 km/pH from home to school. Imagine how this weather is so bad that a 30-45 minute drive turned two hours. Six cars on current collision with 13 in total, from what I have seen jumped through the snow ditch.

Ponoka RCMP and Sheriffs are urging anyone who has travel planned on Highway 2 between Ponoka and Leduc to stay home and avoid the icy and dangerous highway.

As a result of the poor conditions, there have been several collisions on the QEII in central Alberta.
RCMP Ponoka Integrated Traffic Unit says “travel is not recommended on Highway 2, both north and southbound, from Ponoka to Leduc”.  Traffic is down to one lane of travel in each direction.

There is a multiple vehicle rollover crash on southbound Highway 2 south of Millet.  Emergency crews are on the scene. Visibility south of Edmonton on the QEII is reduced due to snow and the white stuff is beginning to accumulate.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the city of Edmonton.  10 to 20 cms of snow is expected to fall in the area and should begin tapering off on Friday.

Stay safe and be defensive on driving these winter season.
